Haverford High School Coffee House

At Haverford High School, there are so many different kinds of clubs and organizations that students belong to. Action Shot Throughout the school year, they put together certain events for whoever may want to go. One of these events is called a Coffee House. The Coffee House is for students or even graduates who have formed a band and want to play for their friends or play for more publicity. This is a good way for bands who want to go farther in the music industry to get more fans, even if their fans are just high school peers for now.

I have been to a number of these coffee houses because my friends have been in a band together for about 5 years now. All throughout their high school years they've played at coffee houses, along with some other real gigs at bars and other places. They are called State Of Industry, drummer Kevin Haindl, bassist Rob Sweeney, and guitarist Jon Little. Their band name reflects on what has become of the music industry (how ridiculous it keeps getting). For the time being, they desperately need a singer. State Of Industry Even though they are without a singer right now, my opinion is they are a really good band no matter what. They know what good music is and they know how to play good music. They have a lot of good bands that have influenced their music. One band being Tool, which in my opinion is one of the best bands out there. Kevin Haindl, the drummer, has often been compared to Danny Carey, the drummer of Tool, because Kevin is one of the most amazing drummers, at least that I've ever seen. Obviously, I speak very highly of State Of Industry, not just because they're my friends, but because they really are awesome. They just really need a singer. I've always thought these guys are going to get somewhere with this band. Only time will tell.

I'm glad there are always Haverford High School Coffee Houses because it's a nice event for music lovers to come together and share what they have done. Bands become friends with other bands and maybe gain more fans. Bands can gain another member, like if anyone was interested in singing, he could talk with a band that needs a singer (like State Of Industry). It's an event that is very interesting for anyone who likes to see local bands play. And it's all for the love of the music.
