Homemade Salad Dressing:
Salt, Pepper, Basil, Oregano, Italian Seasoning, Garlic Salt, Olive Oil, & Red Wine Vinegar
If you own a slow cooker, you can make these -
Macaroni and Cheese with Hamburger:
Takes 3 & a half hours to make, serves 8. Ingredients - 1 pound lean hamburger, 6 cups elbow macaroni, 2 cups whole milk, 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese, 2 teaspoons dry mustard, ¼ teaspoon garlic salt, ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper.
1. Brown the hamburger in a skillet on medium-high heat on the stove. Drain off the fat and spread the hamburger on paper towels to absorb remaining grease. Cook the macaroni in boiling water until soft.
2. Combine the milk, Cheddar cheese, dry mustard, garlic salt, and black pepper in the slow cooker. Cook uncovered on high setting until the cheese has melted completely. Add the cooked macaroni and hamburger; stir well. Cook uncovered on low setting for 3 hours.
You could also try different pastas like rotini or alphabet shapes or substitute hot dog or sausage slices for the hamburger.
Salmon Casserole:
Takes 3-4 hours to make, serves 4. Ingredients - 8 ounces (1 cup) fresh mushrooms, quartered, 1 small yellow onion, 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese, 2 eggs, 2 cups (16 ounces) canned salmon with liquid, 1 1/2 cups bread crumbs, 1 tablespoon lemon juice.
1. Clean the mushrooms by wiping with a damp cloth; cut into quarters. Peel the onion and chop into ¼-inch pieces. Shred the Cheddar cheese with a vegetable grater. Beat the eggs by stirring quickly with a fork.
2. Put the fish in a medium-sized mixing bowl and flake with a fork, removing any bones. Mix together all the ingredients; pour into the slow cooker. Cover and cook on low setting for 3 to 4 hours.
Hot Fruit Medley:
Takes 3-4 hours to make, serves 8. Ingredients - 3 fresh grapefruit, 3 fresh oranges, 2 cups fresh or canned pineapple, cut into chunks, 2 fresh pears, 2 fresh peaches, 3 fresh bananas, 1 cup fresh cherries, 1 cup seedless grapes, ¼ cup sugar, ¼ cup water, 1 tablespoon lemon juice.
1. Peel and section the grapefruits and oranges. Cut the pineapple into chunks about 1 inch square. Peel the pears, peaches, and bananas, then slice into pieces no larger than ¼-inch thick. Remove pits from cherries.
2. Combine all the ingredients and place in the slow cooker. Cover and cook on low heat 3 to 4 hours, stirring occasionally.
Cauliflower and Ham Chowder:
Takes 8-9 hours to make, serves 6. Ingredients - 2 cups ham, diced, 3 cups fresh cauliflower, chopped, 1 small white onion, 1 cup canned evaporated milk, 2 tablespoons flour, 1 cup Swiss cheese, grated, 2 cups water, 1 cup light cream.
1. Cut the ham into ½-inch pieces. Cut the cauliflower into ½-inch pieces. Peel the onion & chop finely.
2. Mix the evaporated milk and flour in the slow cooker.
3. Add the ham, cauliflower, onion, Swiss cheese, and water. Cover & cook on low setting for 8 to 9 hours.
4. Ten minutes before serving, stir in the cream.
